Eddy Merckx, better known as ‘The Cannibal’ was born in 1945, in Belgium. He was a professional cyclist from 1961 to 1978.
After his career, Eddy Merckx founded his new company in 1980.
From his workshop in Meise, Belgium his new professional challange was was to produce high-end racing frames. Merckx went to Italy and got trained by the the art of building frames by De Rosa for several weeks. Ugo De Rosa trained Eddy Merckx and came to Belgium to visit the factory and the new employees.
During the 1990’s, the Eddy Merckx Mx-Leader was a top-end level road frame among professional teams.
This Eddy Merckx Mx-Leader Team Vlaanderen 2002 is a prestigious example of Eddy his craftsmanship in the 90’s.
This Mx-Leader is shining in his original Vlaanderen 2002 paintjob. It’s 100% original.
This bike has a Campagnolo Record groupset and is rolling on Mavic Cosmic clincher wheels. This is a real competition bike as it’s equipped with a racing number holder for competition. Its has a Cinelli Model 101, pantographed ‘Cinelli’ stem and Cinelli Contact triangle bar. Such a great handlebar combination!
This piece of art is hand made in Belgium. In the workshop in Meise, around 25km away from where I live. Serial Number F5424
An absolute dream to ride! No cracks, no dents! Only 1 paintchip. Low millage.
